About the ISP 2024 Germany
This year, SCI Germany invites 10 volunteers from countries in Africa, Asia, and South America to the so-called “Incoming School Project” or ISP 2024 Germany. The topic of the Incoming School Project 2024 is “Past to Present: Unpacking the effects of Colonialism”.
The topic will discuss about perspectives on Colonialism. Its goal is to give international perspectives of the era of Colonialism and its effects and influence on culture, politics, climate, economy and more. German schools are often lacking in giving a lot of insight to these effects, because of lacking information. This project aims to give this information to the people and educate them on international problems.
The participants will visit different high schools in the region of Cologne and will present and discuss varying topics on their research about Colonialism in the Global South. The focus lies on the communication and exchange with the German students, for everyone to get different perspectives on lives and futures from all around the world. Participants will discuss questions like: How did Colonialism effect my country/region in the past? What effects of past Colonialism can I still see today? How is the topic of Colonialism treated today? And many more.
The project is divided into two parts. The first one is a training seminar where the volunteers will get to know each other for one week and exchange their knowledge, ideas, opinions, and perspectives on the topic. There will be a team of trainers that will support the participants along the way and help to organize their own workshops.
During the second part of the project, the participants will join 8 different schools for around 4 hours each. Here, the volunteers will present to the pupils of around 14-18 years old, about the gained knowledge during the training seminar, their own knowledge, experiences and their sending organization. Additionally, volunteers will learn and be exposed to intercultural learning during the project.
Now, GREAT is to recruit one female or one male volunteer as a candidate, to have a further selection process.
General Objectives of the project:
1. To promote a dialogue between people from different regions in the world and break down prejudices and stereotypes.
2. To give German students an insight of life in different parts of the world
3. To offer a platform for volunteers from the “Global South” to make their views and perspectives visible in Germany.
4. To deepen the mutual knowledge and understanding between organizations.
5. To evaluate and improve cooperation between organizations.

Requirements:
1. GREAT member. If you are not a member, contact us here.
2. Minimum age 18 years old
3. Have a passport ready and valid at least until March 2025 or later. Please note: applicants without submitting a copy passport will not be considered.
4. Have volunteering experience, e.g. in international workcamps
5. Familiar with the work and the activities of GREAT as sending organization
6. Willing to regularly communicate with SCI Germany and GREAT during the visa and preparation stage
7. High motivation and interest in the topic.
8. High interest in taking part actively during workshops and talking in front of a class.
9. Fluent in spoken and written English is preferable.
10. Open-minded, good teamwork, respect others, and willing to learn something new.
11. Committed to take part in the whole hosting program and actively taking part in all activities including cooking and cleaning.
12. Committed to do the assignment plan, from the pre-during-post project.
The Project Covers:
⇒ Accommodation and food during the project will be provided.
⇒ Insurance according to the SCI insurance scheme that will give full coverage in case of accident or disease.
⇒ Supporting documents as sending and hosting organization to apply for visa.
The Project DOES NOT Covers:
1. Passport fee
2. Additional Insurance cost, if applicable
3. Visa cost
4. Personal medications
5. Personal expenses and pocket money
6. Commitment fee (GREAT will refund this to volunteers after they complete the project, submit a report and finish all assignments on time)
7. Organizational support fee/Inscription Fee (for GREAT to support non-funded activities which are not related to any funded program; e.g organizational events, international networking, and promotional tools development)
8. Project contribution to the SCI Germany as hosting organization
9. Possible health protocol costs may appear related to COVID-19 policy (or other diseases if applicable) in sending or hosting country.
Terms and Conditions:
1. The activity will be conducted entirely in English.
2. The project is partially funded, which does not cover the entire travel costs. Hence, every volunteer must pay a contribution of 400€.
3. Selected candidates must pay:
⇒ Commitment fee IDR 1.000.000 to GREAT (to be paid not later than April 22nd)
⇒ Organizational Support Fee IDR 1.500.000 to GREAT (to be paid not later than April 22nd)
4. Selected candidate is ready to do pre, during, and post assignments of the project that supports GREAT activities.
5. Selected candidate agrees to sign a legal agreement with GREAT carrying pre-during-post assignment of the project.
6. Fully attend the Pre Departure Training with GREAT (time and place to be confirmed).

Obligatory:
⇒ Pre-project
√ Pre-Departure Training with GREAT (time and place to be confirmed)
⇒ During the project
√ Send pictures and videos of departure and during projects regularly to the GREAT staff
√ Post, tag and mention GREAT social media when posting documentation related to this project
√ Communicate regularly with GREAT staff during the project
⇒ Post project
√ Submit a report of participation at the latest 3 working days after arrival at Indonesia, and:
Optional:
√ Join one international or bilateral work camp as a participant
√ Join one international or bilateral work camp as camp leader in remaining work camps within 2024, including must join the Training for Camp Leader
√ Support the promotional activities offline with GREAT staffs October-December 2024
√ Support the promotional activities online with GREAT October-December 2024
√ Be active in at least 5 months in a row of local volunteering activities in their closest GO Cities in Indonesia after Germany between October 2024 – February 2025
√ Other contribution are welcome.
