About Peer Volunteer and Training for Peer Volunteer
GREAT is calling its members who would like to actively involve in GREAT activities as a Peer Volunteer for Long and Middle Term Volunteering (LMTV) project. Peer volunteer is local volunteer assisting our international volunteers who are deployed in GREAT’s LMTV projects, especially in Pekalongan. The Training for Peer Volunteer (TPV) is aimed for future PV to be ready and can prepare themselves in taking action as their roles explained below.
About Long and Middle Term Volunteering
LMTV project is an international voluntary project which takes place between 2-12 months. The volunteers, together with the local people and/or target group, would stay and have voluntary activities in several themes like education, skill development for the children in project and shelter, local community empowerment, gender and human rights, etc based on the needs of the local people.
Why Peer Volunteers are important
GREAT LMTVs are international volunteers or foreign to Indonesia’s culture, habit and custom. It is not easy for them to adjust and to adapt themselves to the new culture, new country with different languages, way of life and way of thinking, nor to place themselves properly in the activity for their project in Indonesia. They need assistant and guidance from native Indonesian to get to know, run and succeed their activities.
The role of a Peer Volunteer
1. Assisting international volunteer in their project.
2. Helping international volunteer preparing their activity.
3. Facilitating international volunteers if they face problems because of culture, programs or daily matters.
4. Being a mediator between GREAT, Local Partners and Volunteers.
Criteria of a Peer Volunteer
1. Having time to spend with international volunteer.
2. Able to communicate in English
3. Highly motivated to be a Peer Volunteer.
4. Having good understanding about LMTV projects, especially for the specific project that PV chooses to be in charge with.
5. Having good will to learn intercultural learning aspect.
6. Member of GREAT who has joined one of these trainings: Basic Training, Training for Camp Leaders and or ever participated an international work camp.

Procedure of Application for TPV
- Filling in the application form here for Training Peer Volunteer and send it to pekalongan@greatindonesia.org
Cc email to: program@greatindonesia.org and incoming.lmtv@greatindonesia.org. - Deadline of application is 30th of March 2017 at 12.00 pm.
- Ready for phone interview on 31st of March 2017, between 10.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 15.00.
(Please note that only selected candidate would be notified for the interview) - GREAT will provide accommodation during the training for free (you are not obliged to stay in-house during training if your house is nearby the training location.)
- Be present full time and on time during the training activity.
